Sunshine in New York City– Strolling through Battery Park City, Manhattan

Sunshine in New York City– Strolling through Battery Park City, Manhattan   A couple of weeks ago, before the start of Astronomical Spring, on a beautiful , warm day  hubby, myself and our little Prince decided to explore  Battery Park City. Battery Park City was created in 1980 as an extension of lower Manhattan. This unique neighborhood has stunning views of the Statue of Liberty, the Freedom Tower, and the skyline of Jersey City across the river. It is a 92-acre planned community on the west side of the southern tip of the island of Manhattan in New York City.  […]

Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Energy Bars

My mom (64) is on a mission of reviving her old life and adopting a healthy way of living.  She has a sweet tooth but she’s scared she would have to give up her sweet treats in order to be successful at it.  This is a myth and a great misconception. Just because something is sweet doesn’t necessarily mean it is unhealthy. Yes on this life style you can have you cake and eat it. All you need to know is when and how to make them. I whipped up our favorites Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip energy bars. They taste like cookie dough but are made […]

We also went to Pearl Habor , Diamond head [part of the Honolulu Volcanic Series], snorkeled in Hanauma bay […]

Happy New Year to you all!  Wishing you all the best in 2017. Our morning started with a visit to St Patrick’s Cathedral for a mass; after which we headed across Fifth Avenue to the Rockefeller Center. However I could not secure suitable tickets to visit the observatory. My outfit today features a simple black jean and a white patterned Calvin Klein top […]

Officially owners of a Vitamix blender – First Impression

Ever since going vegan 2.5 years ago, there was always one thing I dreamt of having in our kitchen.  Yes you’ve guessed it -a VITAMIX.  Some call it the BMW in the world of blenders while others call it the mother of all blenders; made in the US and carrying a 7 year warrantee, this must have appliance will replace most of your current kitchen appliances and it is dominating in the vegan world. This amazing beauty came to us unexpectedly while on our weekly shopping in Costco.  We contemplated at first, not knowing which one of vitamix machines would be […]

S+K Tuscany Wedding Workout

Back in May 2013, we were blessed to have witnessed the wedding of our dear friend, Sugi. I first met Sugi in early 2009 at the Church of Infant Jesus in Prague, the Czech Republic.  We clicked and became friends from the get go- going for sushi, cakes and tea after church. She completed medical school and moved to London, UK. My hubby and I together with my family in Namibia were glad to have Sugi and her parents at our wedding in Namibia, where she was the maid of honor. When Sugi first told us of her new found […]

Lost in Central Park

Getting Lost in Central Park, NYC  It was New York Pumpkin fest; my hubby and I went on a date- yes we do our best to go out on a date at least once a week. We entered the park from the Upper East Side strolling all the way to Belvedere Castle and the Great Lawn on this fun sunny but windy autumn day. It was fun and romantic. From there, we used 79th street transverse rd to west drive along the banks of The Lake. There, I had a snack- homemade sun warrior vegan protein shake with fresh spinach […]

One Evening in Central Park

As I wrote earlier, one of our favorite spots in the city is Central park- an 840 acres public park at the center of Manhattan in NYC. With a variety of terrain and gorgeous scenery of the surrounding landscape, Central Park is the ultimate runner’s paradise. The New York Marathon has its final miles in Central Park. As an avid runner myself, I cannot resist the urge to run whenever we are in Central park. On this cozy but windy fall evening, my husband and I went for one of our casual dates. I convinced my dear hubby to join […]

Brooklyn bridge park outdoor viewing party

I was initially introduced to soccer by my dear hubby, who is an ardent soccer fan; we even travelled to Milan, Italy to watch his favorite team, Juventus defeated Inter Milan.. Forza Juve. On Saturday, August 10, New York red bulls played Columbus crews in Columbus, Ohio. New York red bull setup a huge and fun outdoor viewing party for its fan at Brooklyn bridge park, pier 1. We left home on Subway line 5 for the long ride to Borough hill, Brooklyn. The subway ride was fun- seeing and interacting with people in a cosmopolitan city, NYC.  We arrived […]

Baywatch like moment

Summer is here in the northern hemisphere, yayy..Since 2007 when I made the decision to be fit and healthy, I have consistently maintained my body weight {be it in summer, winter or any season} with the occasional 1-2 kgs fluctuations- heck, that is a fact of life and I believe most people can relate. 10-15 minutes away from where we live, is a beach; yeah, a beachbody on the beach- to quote my dear hubby. We decided to explore this beach, taking into consideration sanitary conditions which is an issue with most beaches in NYC { with few exceptions like […]
